platoon

you will notice an influx of vietnam war movies as ive seen them all. I have a thing about it. you could perhaps say obsession, I say interest. people ask my why, I think its because of the draft, the lack of point, the fact that the boys forced to go were around my age, the violence and the insanity of it all. now I think the war should’ve never happened and was a humiliating travesty that accomplished nothing but horror. so dont get me wrong on that. I appose almost every war that has ever happened. I think that men should not hold so much power and be so evil but that is the world we live in. anyways. platoon. ive seen platoon perhaps 3 times. its not the best vietnam war movie its not in the top 3 but it is quite alright. I rewatched it last week with this friend of mine who surprisingly knew very much about everything that was going on and I was pleased. not that knowing things about it is rare or makes you special. I am just strange in my interest it is perhaps not a good one to have. perhaps it’s a fine one. that wasn’t my point but here I am defending myself to no one. I was pleased someone else shared my interest at least somewhat. platoon had so many stars in it it was distracting. charlie sheen did a pretty bad job I thought, not a very good actor. its about his character and his experiences in vietnam. he turns into a killer like they all do. hurting civilians, raping women, burning houses, killing farm animals, destroying rice. many of them died, much tension, much death, much war. willem dafoe was sexy as hell in it. his character had a rivalry with another, it was a good versus evil situation. they both lost. they both died. willem was sexy. I thought it was a pretty good, to my knowledge, portrayal of the evils of the americans, and the life of the soldiers. maybe they didnt all do those things but they all were forced to become killing machines. they were all forced to sleep in rain and shit in drums. I wish Charlie sheen was a better actor the movie would’ve been quite a lot better. hes no Martin sheen. this was no apocalypse now. platoon is captivating and interesting and evil.
